The Lord of the Rings sponsored readthrough
On the 2nd august, 13 people gathered in the front room of a small cottage in West Berkshire, and read through the entire script of Brian Sibley and Michael Bakewell's 13-hour radio series of The Lord of the Rings, in aid of Sight Savers International and The Woodland Trust.

It took us from 8.30am until 1.45am(ish) the following morning. And then there was the year I spent typing up the script and organising the thing - not to mention the weeks spent by Chris and Andrew in preparing the music and the sound effects/recording of the event respectively, both while trying to move house at the same time...

A foolish undertaking, you may feel? Well, perhaps. But the most wonderful foolish undertaking in the world. :)

We raised just over £470 for the two charities, sending £235 directly to Sight Savers, and between us planting 55 trees through The Woodland Trust.
