This disc of a gig from Minneapolis in 1990 was coupled with a limited edition of the Willson-Piper solo album "Hanging Out in Heaven" (and also available from emusic.com). It's lo-fi stuff, just Marty with his Rickenbacker 12-string guitar. The bootleg-quality sound of this recording doesn't do any justice to the performance. Emphasising the harsher edge of Marty's voice, it's caricatured to sound raucous. The songs have the casual manner of someone who tosses off songs in his sleep. Their tunes aren't remarkable, although the sound and lo-fi arrangements probably aren't fair to them. It's that fat guitar sound, strummed out with a manic energy, that propels the songs forwards.
