Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92

Interesting mix of soft techno and floaty electronic ambient. The more dancy-sounding tracks have a bedroom-recording feel with scratchy beats, delicate muted basslines, and subtle bleepiness. Some of it has that dated late-80's "rave" sound - it would be interesting to know which tracks came from 85 and which from 92. The bleepy noises on "Green Calx" and "Ageispolis", and some of the synth bass sounds, do show their age. There's some decent hypnotic melodies though, such as "Heliospan", "We Are the Music Makers", and "Actium".
